Conference “Research, Transition, Sustainability: The Women in Science”

Rome, 12 October – CNR, Aula Marconi Time: 9.30

The event starts from the activities of the GETA (Gender and Talents) Observatory active at the CNR in the various fields that consider scientific, economic and environmental development in society in gender terms. The Conference is linked to the publication of the Fourth GETA Report In search of lost time: from inclusion to empowerment in which the gender gap is analyzed at the CNR and in other research bodies, highlighting common points and differences. Among other topics, it also refers to the activity of the G20 Engagement Group called Women20 for two areas more directly connected to research: digital and climate.

The topics of Gender Equality Plans, Gender Mentoring, gaps and gender equality measures in particular in earth sciences and companies, the impact of COVID-19 on the European research system as well as the perception of risk are also touched upon. During the event, the new version of the CNR Gender Budget will also be presented, which offers an updated overview of the data from administrative sources on the organisation’s staff with the aim of providing a more specific and accurate contextual analysis possible, providing a profile of the main characteristics of the CNR’s human resources (research staff, technical and administrative staff, management) as well as the participation of women and men in the life of the organisation in the top bodies and in the scientific network in the area.

The conference, which will be held on 12 October, starts from the activities of the GETA (Gender and Talents) Observatory active in the various fields that consider, in gender terms, scientific, economic and environmental development in society.
